Not too long ago, I did a Producer’s Glide on this album. If you haven’t checked it out then go ahead and press the link.

Layetri had this to say about the album: “After taking a break, the team silently got back to work and completed their first actual studio album dubbed “147” (pronounced one forty seven). This album got released on July 14, 2017, and is the first album with music only by Layetri-P, including all instrumentals, solos and Vocaloid tuning (except for the remakes, which were tuned by Giutli). Inspiration for making this new album was Layetri-P’s good friend Naomi, who suffers from brain cancer and is a huge Vocaloid fan. The producer started working on a song for her, which eventually became “Goranyo” and marked the start of creating a new album.”

Aww, so here’s to Naomi!

When all was said and done, the album was released and I completely forgot to review it the day it came out due to family troubles and ultimately being on that stupid fast diet that forces you to eat only 1 meal a day.

But if this post was about me, then we’d be here all day. Technically, I’ll be here all day, but you might not want to stay on this page too long- but if you did it would surely help my growth on Google! wink wink nudge nudge

Even though Layetri speaks English, this is an entirely Japanese album, which might carry him further in the long run!

Detail Review:

1) Goranyo

Emotion: (⋂‿⋂) – Love It!

It comes with video! I don’t know what it means, but the sounds are very subtle. It quickly gets more upbeat and heavy until Miku begins to sing, so you don’t have to worry about it trailing on too long. I actually think I’m going to have a severe bias over here! ( >_<)

For some reason, this sort of sounds like what Paipan-P would put out there, so if you like his music, I’m sure you’ll like this song as well!

The guitar is in your face but keeping a nice distance away just to be nice. There is also a bass line that provides ambiance to the rhythm of Miku’s singing. By the way, Miku sounds stable, almost like she’s scared to move her voice from the octave she keeps it in. That’s not to say it doesn’t take away from the song- the drums give it back and more. With the little chiptunes in the background, it adds something I can’t place.

Remember, guitar solos are the bread and butter of any song even if it doesn’t have a guitar (that’s a joke!) and this guitar solo is no different. The extreme whining of the guitar creates a perfect pitch that leads into an echo fade, in rhythm with a heartbeat. The song abruptly ends on an unfinished note!

2) Bokura no Tsumi

Emotion: (⋂‿⋂) – Love It!

Beeping is always a good start to a Vocaloid song! Also with a slight piano leading to a break with the slamming of the drums and the chiptunes, I find my Bass exploding in my ears… kinda weird for a song like this but okay. The bass doesn’t harm the song too much because I can simply turn down the bass booster.

With this song being a duet with Rin and Len, some people will just gravitate towards it without regard for how it sounds anyway- and while we’re on the subject of the Kagamine… Twins? Clones? Uh…

They sound emotionally ecstatic. When you hear them both sing, you can hear the pan with Rin on the left and Len on the Right… which is directly opposite than what their names represent-

Rin = Right

Len = Left

But that’s just me. The chorus is AMAZING!!! Add an extra exclamation point just for true feelings (!) there you go!

3) I’m So In Love Right Now

Emotion: (⋂‿⋂) – Love It!

I had the gracious opportunity to listen to this song when the album was still in development. I actually gave Layetri-P a small review… and maybe to save time I’ll say what I said then:

( 💜ω💜) ~♪     – cheesy I know

It has the perfect amount of bass to it and comes in at the perfect time. But I find it familiar in the beginning, but I can’t place the song I’m thinking about. This is a very happy song and very welcome now that I’m stressing over work. It’s more built for a summer ballad that I would binge all summer than a dance, but I don’t care, I dance anyway! Although, I feel that the brass was mildly redundant up until the end, and btw, the end was a YEAH moment for me.

Miku here is now so happy that you can actually tell. She also doesn’t do like in #1 and completely goes through octaves at the perfect time. The whole song is a perfect timing and should be given a reward like when getting perfect in those god-awful extreme modes on Vocaloid video games.

4) Even In A Cloudy Sky

Emotion: (⋂‿⋂) – Love It!

Nice going Miku, you make me cry! This is a ballad of the acoustic swing and even has a violin. It’s slow enough to almost put you to sleep, yet has just enough “OOMPH” to get you up off your butt and sing along… provided if you need to get up to sing at all… some people can’t- don’t know why.

An emotional piece of artistry!

5) Natsu no Souzou

Unique to this album, it has a different style and reference into Miku’s singing and even piano. I’m getting a vibe of Lamaze-P over here… and if you know how much I love Lamaze, then you know I’m already in love with this song.

They added in claps and diminuendo’s/crescendo’s to the point where is almost sounds like a crowd is actually being recorded. Nothing doing about forgetting this one anytime soon… it’s going to be stuck in my head for at least a week! Just what I need, another catchy song to drive out the others already stuck in my head. So is my life now ( ~_~)

6) Kisses&Benches

Emotion: (⋂‿⋂) – Love It!

Uh-oh, I’m hearing that brass again. Not only that, I’m also hearing a bit of Yucha-P in here as well… either they took inspiration from all of the producer’s I’ve mentioned, or I’m unconsciously placing some of my favorite songs I’ve been listening to onto this album… could be both ( 030)

When you hear the previous songs, you can get the feel of this one as well. Miku starts her verse on a low play of instruments, jumps into the chorus, and the verse afterward slightly changes… that’s with almost every song though- you could say the same for your favorite rock band!

And with any great song, it fades like it was meant to be on a radio!

7) Our Way Out

Emotion: (⋂‿⋂) – Love It!

Reminds me of Mario Kart Rainbow Road from the original 64 version… I don’t know why either. The tempo and constant beat are built for road travel. Piano’s, drums, and… okay, those are chiptune solos, that most definitely solidifies this as a rewarding song to listen to and experience.

So if you ever feel the need to drive, pop this song on in and let your imagination flourish, because how are you going to ride on a rainbow? You might say it’s OUR WAY OUT from the earth to the clouds and then into gold… yeah, I stretched that one a little too far, didn’t I?

8) Answer To My Feelings (Ver. 2017)

Emotion: (⋂‿⋂) – Love It!

– Imagine This Upgraded To Near Perfection –

This is an updated version of a previous song above, and it’s SO MUCH BETTER! The song in the above video is the older one, has a very high dislike ratio to likes, and very off tune and kinda hard to listen to if you catch my drifting winds- no offense Layetri! But this song is far better on this album, 147, because of the main fact that all the notes are in tune, and the instruments are changed to sound much different and far better.

I’m going to be honest, though, some of the instruments in this song, even with my amazement of how much better it sounds than the above video, confuses me. I’m thinking I’m confusing a violin for sounding like a guitar, and there are some of the most intense instrument sessions I’ve ever heard on such a soft song. When you combine violin, brass, guitar, piano, drums, bass… you basically have an orchestra.

Miku is a master at changing tempo with the song, I don’t know how she does it, but the whole song goes down in tempo, then skyrockets into an even higher tempo that is sort of off just a bit, but it’s very stable on the uprise. This song also fades very well, and I can say that this is by far the best recreation of any song I’ve heard- and I’ve heard a lot of pretty bad songs from the Vocaloid community, but this one takes the cake as a reason why you shouldn’t just let go of one song just because it sounds bad at the starting. You should mend it, and make it better like these guys did!

Speaking of which, Layetri wrote what would be song in 2015 for a school assignment. He said he knew that this song could be much more than just a in a grade and decided to put it on Piapro for people to find it and help him developing it. Lyricist Takahiro was first to reply and this event marked the beginning of TeamLayetri- neat. “Answer to My Feelings” was released on February 14, 2016 with Takahiro’s aid, and the two started looking for more people to join the team and found illustrator Lewis and tuner Giutli. A month later, model Youya also joined the team.

So there’s some backstory. I’d say it’s what every producer should inspire to!

9) This Is Not Goodbye

Emotion: (⋂‿⋂) – Love It!

Acoustic Guitar!

Man, 2 Acoustic Guitars! Ok, well IA does a fabulosis (fabulous) job of getting the message across, even though I don’t know Japanese. Halfway through, it starts to sound like a soft rock/slow dance song. More or less something you’d play when you’re crying from happiness or something cheesy like that. I am a cheese man!

10) Good Girl’s Wish (Ver. 2017)

Emotion: (⋂‿⋂) – Love It!

– Imagine This Updated With A Slower Tempo, More Instruments, and Less Generic Drums Beats –

This is an updated version of a previous song which is in a video above. This video also has a pretty high dislike ratio… wonder why ( 0_0)?

It sounds so much better too! I’m not going to be a stickler and say that IA is only for these types of songs, but she’s the best girl for the job. Take what I said on the last one… which wasn’t much, and apply it here except with a piano intro instead of an acoustic guitar… well, there is still a guitar, violin, beepmaps, and drums that are so much better than the one’s in the above video- they’re also in better tune, but that shouldn’t overshadow the most beautiful ballad in the album!

This is what Layetri had to say for this song: “The first version of Good Girl’s Wish was actually written after I finished most of the songs for 500001 – which makes it in a sense the successor of the album, even though it was released before the album came out. It was initially meant to be on 500001 as well, but I felt like releasing it as a single would benefit both the song and its charitable backstory”

This single was Layetri’s first charity song and went on to be the group’s most live-played song so far!

…wait, live-played? IA, YOU REAL? – joke

I feel like I’m giving Layetri a hard time on his previous works… but that’s growth and criticism! ‘TIS MY JOB! In any way, people do grow and get better, you just have to have time- my music won’t be that good! I completely destroyed one song while trying to master it… ( ; – ; ) I’ll miss you “Stump”.

11) Last Song (Graduation Is Coming)

Emotion: (⋂‿⋂) – Love It!

Rock song? Check

Phaser guitar? Check

Wicked bass line? Check

Folding Chair? Hammock? One of those little umbrella drinks made out of Sprite because I don’t drink alcohol? Not check- I ran out of Sprite!

The whole point of that was to incentivize that this song is the start to a perfect summer and the end to an entire era of life! Layetri himself told me he was graduating soon, and good for him! Honestly, I’ve never heard a Vocaloid song about Graduation… when it wasn’t weird and gross. I wish I had this when I graduated high school 3 years ago!

But when it comes to graduating, I’ve still got some college left to go. So as the perfect beginning to a joyful summer, comes the perfect end to a perfect album! Kinda sad, because my summer is almost over… I go back to school in a little under 2 weeks ( ; ~ ; ) I haven’t even gotten my classes ready yet nor how I’m going to pay for it-

1 class = $400

I need to take 7 classes… whoever said college is a wonderful place must have been rich and famous!

Quickie Review:

9 out of 10

Emotion: (⋂‿⋂) – Love It!

Throughout the journey, I feel that along my own route of being a Vocaloid producer, Layetri-P and his team may have me beat by a long shot! As someone who knows about the Vocaloid community, Japanese vocals go pretty far in terms of popularity compared to English or other languages. But the music does give me ideas for my own music. I’ve never put a violin in before or brass for that matter!

I personally find this album a breath of fresh air. Something you can listen to in the summer time or just as you get out of work and onto the sands of the beach provided you live near a beach and if not then you can probably go buy sand from walmart and make your own makeshift beach… just don’t track that wet sand through the kitchen, it’s messy that way!

So here’s all the links to bring to the table for which you can buy and/or listen:
